no, what i'm saying is that the straight prostitution has just gone underground. As I understand it Juniper and 13th had been a de facto red light district since at least the 50s. The cops just looked the other way as long as they kept it within the lines.
Things changed in the neighborhood and that stuff wasn't tolerated anymore.
Like I was alluding to, the 20-40 year old, gay, white-male from a middle-class background has a lot more options these days and because they're living and spending their money in other places the gayborhood is being pulled between the forces of development (think Chelsea) and the more seedy side of the gay community that you don't see on Will & Grace . . . an element that's filling some of the void left by the gay folk who lead a more traditional, 9-5 lifestyle.
