OK, I am considering moving to several places in Chester Co/western Montgomery county, and I'm interested in hearing about people's first-hand experience with traffic/commuting on the main highways in that area.

So which road has the worst traffic volume? I'm talking from 7-8am in the morning, and 5-6:30pm at night, and only to the King of Prussia area (that is where I work).

Any other major roads out that way that get jammed up with commute traffic?

The Route 30 bypass can be a real joy at those hours.

Why isn't the vine street or Schuylkill Expressway on that list? I guess 422 is technically the Schuylkill Expressway as defined by PennDot, and through my short experience with a contract in Collegeville, I'd say it's the worst of those on your list.

I was asking specifically from the western areas up to King of Prussia. I wouldn't get on the Schuylkill.

I think the question should be "Which commute is most miserable?". I think 202 may see more traffic but with the road expansions and ramp changes it has become a much better ride.

I drove 422 westbound in the morning for maybe 6 months and hated every minute of it - of course 202 was bad then too so that didn't help.

But once rush hour was done I would shave a good 30 minutes off my commute.

I just find the ride on 422 congested and ugly, the power plant in the background is depressing, if there's an accident 422 becomes a parking lot.

After Route 1 South to Kennett, 422 is my least favorite road to drive.

Actually 422 is not part of the Schuylkill Expressway. The Schuylkill ends at the interchange where 76 joins the Turnpike.

422 is definitely the worst of these options though. 202 would not be fun, but 422 has to be worse. If you take 202, you are best off if you can somehow avoid the mall area.
