If she's good enough for PSU, she probably would've been recruited by now.

In that case, skip the rest and aim for the University of Pennsylvania. Amazing school, great reputation, and big enough to be all things to all people. It also has some of the best nursing and medical schools in the United States.
If she has the numbers to get into Swarthmore, she has the numbers to get into Penn.

You want University Park Campus, State College, PA. That is where the football stadium and all the sports are, and most of the student body. I would not attend Penn State unless I got into University Park.
Penn State has an excellent nursing program but she would have to spend some time at the Penn State Hershey Medical center but again its such a great school, it's well worth it.

I agree with orrmobl about the PSU campuses - I would want my kids to only go to the main campus at State College. It's a huge school though and introductory classes could have 100 students in them. Also, you could have classes taught by grad students and not professors. On the other hand, there is always something going on because there are so many kids!

I think I mentioned this before, but I forget...if she's got the scores to get into Swarthmore, she should consider Penn STate's honors college. That way you get the exclusivism and small classes of a smaller school but the big school atmosphere. However like someone mentioned, getting a softball scholarship to PSU would be almost impossible.

Some sage advice to be sure. I have been through this before with my daughter who is now a sophomore in college but her search was entirely different. She did not have the scores to pick and choose. I have since talked to my daughter about the size of Penn State and it may be too big for her. I am having her look at Villanova. Her softball coach has obtained scholarships to Penn State for other players so I am sure he would tell her what she needs to do if that is her choice. I am trying to have her make a decision as I know time is running out. Thank you for all the info it makes my job easier!

Well, I'm not saying it's impossible, but playing a Div I sport and majoring in Nursing would be pretty difficult.
Personally, I really love Villanova and Swarthmore. Of course, one has to be a certain kind of student to want to attend Swat. It's a very, very hard college.
