Glenside/Abington to KOP commute
Leaving Glenside/Abington at 7:00am to KOP
leaving KOP at 6pm to Glenside/Abington
anyone have any ideas on how long that would take on an average day? Any other good routes (other than the turnpike)?

With no traffic, you're looking at around 25-35 minutes depending on starting points. At 7AM, it probably isn't too bad, figure on adding 10 minutes. In the PM, there's a potential for a little longer ride because of lingering rush hour traffic.
All bets are off though, if there is a problem (accident, lane closure) on the turnpike. Even if you could take another route, everybody else would be doing the same. That's the risk of the KOP commute.
The best alternate is probably back roads through Conshohocken and then Route 23 to KOP, but there are some real slow spots going that way.

I used to do this. The above post is fairly accurate, but, there are 2 positives to note:
1 - The PA Turnpike widening is now complete (I think) btw Norristown and KOP. As a part of this, there are now more and better flowing on-ramps to the Turnpike EB and WB from the Valley Forge exit, which makes it easier to get through the toll and onto the Turnpike.
2 - The PA 309 widening is almost done (at least the part btw the Turnpike and Arcadia Unversity). If you are actually going to the Glenside part of Abington and not Abington near the hospital, this should help you greatly as well.
Here's a shortcut I used going home: After exiting the Turnpike @ Fort Washington, take Pennsylvania Avenue from 309 through Glenside, and you come up near Glenside Avenue. Now you can access Pennsylvania Avenue headed toward Glenside w/o getting on 309, which is another significant improvement.
This commute can be a pain sometimes, but I don't think it's unreasonable.

great info, thanks. So is a 35-45 minute commute do-able at the times I listed?
