i have a freind who does great work twist n rip method i would never recomend crochete unles the goal is weak dreads that require far more maintanance then any other...for life i recommend you read up before using any methoids or products as many are very harmful and the nets full of lies dreadlockforums.ning.com

Go to Duafe on the corner of 30th and Girard. They are completely organic and will give you a consultation before you get anything done. Jill Scott and a gang of other natural hair wearing celebrities go there. Excellent Philadelphia business and easily the best natural hair salon in Philly. Google them, you will see about Sarita(the owner) and the salon's reputation.

There are places in West Philly and there's a place in East Falls off of Ridge, but I don't know if they (can) use crochet needles. The one in East Falls looks professional and knowledgeable, but tends to be more expensive too.
