Ok Serpent, then can you tell us why Philly and Pittsburgh papers and magazines rank things pretty similarly to how I laid them out and US News also puts Masterman (Philly) and Conestoga High (Tredyffrin Easttown) in the top 100 High Schools nationally? Where's the Lansdale high school?

I'm not sure upon what you are basing your opinion but obviously it varies pretty significantly from the writers and statisticians (dare I say experts?) from these publications...

thats like asking someone in japan why the weather patterns have been what they are in nigeria. my work is not national nor involves pittsburg.
if you are THAT interested in moving to pittsburg, i would greatly suggest not to
all of that stuff in US news and other national listings truly do not carry weight in my experience of home hunting, which dates back to 1996 (to present). they are based on HS test scores. that is pop media which is listed and designed to suck the readers in...ooohs and ahhhhs. yahoo.com does it every week with online dating
i would suggest not taking national listings so serious
do the makers of such listings travel to ALL of the public schools in the counties i listed, multiple times per year, grading them, reviewing them, and pressuring them?
i do
nuff said
but yeah, i dont know about schools in madagascar nor in australia
have a plumber work on your cars engine. be my guest. am sure he will tell you all of the things that reaffirm how you see the world; what sound sleep is made of

Sorry, but I can't take someone seriously when they cannot spell Pittsburgh correctly.

Why not? Apparently they have the best district in the state. And those rankings are based upon a PA test of skills at various grade levels. I wasn't trying to be argumentative as much as I was actually asking you how you form your opinions and why we should listen to them over various other groups whose rankings seem to jive much better...By the way the distance between Pittsburgh and Philadelphia is not analagous to the distance between Japan and Nigeria...never mind the Madascar/Australia references...and I still wonder what makes you more qualified to rank than actual statisticians? I'm not looking for a plumber or a mechanic, metrics will do just fine...

It seems like serpent has repeatedly said he/she works with data from all these schools, and has been to all these schools. Either one believes serpent, or does not.

USA Today etc. rankings etc -- sometimes I have seen them use wierd metrics such as how many AP classes are offered (which I dont think is a good metric for ranking school). Also, sometimes they might use historical sentiments in ranking schools. Probably ranking Univesities is one thing. Ranking schools should be taken with a grain of salt??

Ok count me as someone who does not. Discounting US News, my point is that what should be a totally objective ranking done in Pittsburgh comes very close to what Philly Magazine and the Inquirer report...Lansdale does not appear in the Top 10 so color me skeptical that the district is *that* good...
