Cost of Living
Is it possible to pay rent and survive off $10/hr in Philly?
Live alone with a cat. Need wheelchair access. What is the minimum salary?

it's possible, but tough. a friend of mine was making $10/hour and living by himself.. He didn't eat much and never had any extra money.

I think it's more do-able if you just move into a place as a roommate where the cost of everything is shared with others. Thats a tough salary to make it and be comfortable.
Just a thought...

It's possible, but probably will have to settle for a less desireable neighborhood.

Assuming you're working full-time, that would come out to just under $21k/year. Broken down by month, that would be about $1700 or $1300 after taxes. Considering a decent place in an "okay" neighborhood will probably be about $700, you definitely won't have enough left after food and utilities to splurge much. I agree with the idea to find for a roommate who is cat-friendly.

No way - there are lots of things one COULD do, especially temporarily, but as a long term lifestyle, I don't think you would want to...Living and working outside the city may help make things more affordable.

living and working outside the city makes things a lot more difficult . . . and expensive. Especially if you're disabled. There's no way you can afford rent and a car on $10/hr

So what would you say is a minimum hourly wage to be able to live on your own in Philly? Without a roommate?

Going by my standard of an "okay" apartment and neighborhood, I'd say about $15/hr. You could probably live on a little less but you may not like one or both of those criteria.
