Houses in Hatboro and Horsham
I compared the houses in Hatboro and Horsham. I do not know why Hatboro's house is cheaper than Horsham.Thx.

Hatboro has more of a town feel, with older houses that are closer together. Horsham tends to be more suburban, with bigger houses and lots. Same school district though.

Actually, most of that is correct but, Hatboro is kind of falling through the cracks. Horsham is much nicer and does have neighborhoods like those you spoke of that were found in Hatboro. I live in Horsham and wouldn't live in Hatboro.

I guess people have different definitions of falling through the cracks. I'm not sure what part of Horsham would be compared with Hatboro in terms of being like a walkable town.

andrea - what do you mean by "falling through the cracks"? Not being kept up?

For the most part yes, just not being kept up. If you go down Main street in Hatboro for example, great old storefronts and the town actually has a lot of history but, when you look down a lot of those side streets, it's just gotten really trashy looking. No pride in ownership / residence it seems. If you walk down Horsham Road though, everyone is out, lawns are kept up, everyones home are nicely cared for. I'm not saying that every single area in Hatboro has fallen apart, just a lot of has. Even when my kids were in high school, they would talk about how "that part of town" was "crappy". You know how kids are.... Again, just my honest opinion and I've been a long time resident.

We lived in Horsham for ten years. It is a fabulous place to live, but there is no downtown or walkable areas anywhere that we found. The best way to afford Horsham is probably a townhouse. Hatboro is an old town. It has a bit of everything. The downtown is not the greatest, but there are some treasures. The school system is excellent.

Horsham Rd. is a 5 lane highway. Who walks down Horsham Rd?
I drive through Hatboro a few days a week on my way to Warminster. I don't find it much different than I do a place like Glenside. It doesn't have the boutiques and restaurants of a Doylestown or Ambler but it's still pretty solid. I don't see it in decline. I see it as stable and if things like that loft project on Jacksonville Rd. keep happening it'll probably be on the uptick.
I think the fact that Hatboro doesn't have the boutiques and restaurants says as much about the people who live around Hatboro as it does about the people who live in the town (Being drawn to strip malls outside of town). When new shops started popping up on Haddon Ave. in Collingswood the patrons were mostly from Cherry Hill, Voorhees and Marlton.
