I am looking for some salvage yards in the Philidelphia/Eastern PA area so that are not auto salvage yards. I am looking for places where I can get unique pieces of old furniture, lighting fixtures, iron, wood, steel..... Basically anything that I can use for my interior design business. If you can help me if you know of one, or several, or even the correct term to use in a google search (salvage yard only brings up auto salvage yards ), I would be most appreciative!

Thank you,
Mercedez

You are using the wrong terms. Salvage yard IS for autos only.

Try "recycled furniture" or "salvaged wood" or "reclaimed antiques" to get hits. It's hard to get anything besides old flooring. You need to know people who demo old houses or something of that nature. Not saying there is one in Philadelphia, but there are a few in the U.S.

Best bet is to hunt eBay for such items.

Hi -- I am an antiques dealer, so I know what you are looking for. I only sell small items these days, though. If you are willing to travel as far west as Adamstown, there are many sellers of architectural antiques (mantels, light fixtures, fencing, outdoor funishings, windows, etc) and furniture. Some have shops, some just rent space on Sunday or other days during the week (varies). Before the internet and increased fuel costs, designers and high end antique sellers from Philly, DC, New Jersey, and NYC used to travel to central Pennsylvania for inventory. There may very well be the same kind of resources closer to Philly, but I never had to go that far east to find interesting things to sell.
