New to the area help!
I just started a job in Conshocken and I am new to the area. I need to start renting an apartment in May. I know nothing about the area and the bigger problem is my boyfriend who I live with. He needs to live somewhere where we aren't to close to the city and he needs a garage. We need to rent somewhere that is reasonably priced too. We can afford rent up to $1200. I was hoping for a nice smaller neighborhood that had maybe townhouses with a garage is there anything like this or something else that may fit the bill. I am completely willing to commute up to an hour to ensure that he has what he wants.

there are lots of townhouses in conshohocken (you forgot an extra ho) w/garages. I don't know what they rent for? Is that too close to the city? maybe check out bridgeport, it's across the river from norristown.

Oh, its not an easy town-name to spell! I guess I better work on that though, now that I work there. Thanks for the advice.

If you and your gentleman friend are under 30YO, neither Phoenixville nor Pottstown are likely to appeal to you unless your home is your castle.
While Pottstown is improving, it does not have a reputation as one of the more appealing suburbs. A map website says that it would be a 37 minute drive between Pottstown and Conshy. I'd probably add another 10-15 minutes during rush hour.
Phoenixville is a nice enough suburb. It's convenient to the massive shopping and office complexes in King of Prussia.
May I ask why your BF prefers to be so far out? Does he prefer wide open spaces? Or is there a concern about the encroachment of urban living? Conshocken itself is convenient with a bit of a trendy edge to it and is convenient located near major highways.

I'm from a (much smaller) city & am used to living in apartment complexes. He has never really experienced "urban living" so the transition I think will really bother him, things like the amount of noise, the amount of people, the differences that will make him feel out of his element. I'm just looking to make things as easy as possible. I am 21 and hes 23 by the way.

You should check out Phoenixville for a young, hip vibe. Otherwise, just head north and west of Conshohocken until you find a place you like - the further out in either direction gets you more house and land for your money and typically newer townhomes as well...really depends how much country he wants vs how much city you want...

There are some townhomes on ridge pike in Lafayette Hill...i think they're called the glen at lafayette hill. They look nice, but i've never been inside. I don't know how much they cost, but they have garages and the area is nice and convenient to conshy.
