That's exactly what mine are, and I will keep them up until spring! It's a cute lighted snowman and snowflakes in the window. Same with the interior. I'm a snow fanatic, and my home reflects that. No apologies. If people don't like it...TOUGH!

But what makes Christmas decorations (and Christmas for that matter) special is that it's just once a year, for a short period of time. If decorations are up from November to March, then it's not so special.

If we had Christmas every 3 months or so, there really wouldn't be that "Christmas spirit." If the lights are up from the time you eat turkey & pumpkin pie, until the time you are planting your garden, then the lights are not longer special, and the certainly no longer bring about that Christmas spirit.

I love snow & winter too, but "winter" is a totally different concept than "Christmas."
Sure you can say "if people don't like it, tough" but just accept that fact that people will think of you as tacky and without class. If that's fine for you, then fine by me!

Unless we're talking a "light-up-the-entire-block-like-a-beacon" sort of deal, I really don't see what the problem is. Don't like it? Then don't come over or peer in my windows. I took all my stuff down in mid-January, but have no problem with my neighbors who still have some lights up.

Omg, I had to laugh when I read this post. Every single time I see Christmas decorations up at this time of year, it makes me cringe. LOL

No need to peer in windows when there's a great big lit-up inflatable snow globe in the front yard.

Like I said to the other guy, sure you have the right to leave them up all year, but I also have the right to think that you have no class.

I also feel for people trying to sell their house in this market, when their next door neighbor has a Christmas wonderland going on.

Hey, I know what tasteless is: it's the whackos with every single inflatable character out there, taking over the neighborhood like aliens. My guy is simply a lighted two-foot snowman in the window with two snowflakes, one on each side. besides...I only light him when we're expecting or having a snow shower/storm or when it's beautifully cold. He's just too cute to take down - and he's certainly not tacky.

The big inflatable stuff I class together with "light-up-like-a-beacon", so I understand that being annoying. My family never did any of that, even when I was a kid (just some lit reindeer in the backyard), so I was thinking along the lines of my parents house, where outside you've got a wreath and maybe a few balls on a tiny tree in the front yard. The rest is all inside.

In a row house with a 15-foot lot. In one of my neighbors' yards I counted six. But at least those are gone by now!! LOL

Agreed. I keep everything up past Epiphany (Grandma always said "How will the Wise Men be able to find baby Jesus if the decorations are down?"), unless the tree looks like it's going to combust spontaneously , but after that I get antsy.

now THATS the holiday spirit!

If i still lived where it is cold mine would probably still be up. at least here when its 70 something outside putting up and taking down the lights is just another good excuse to throw on some shorts, grab a beer and be outside for a while
