Default Philadelphia versus NYC

How do you compare living in Philly to living in NYC? Pros and Cons, let's hear it. Thanks.

They're both horribly expensive for the "livable" areas (i.e. Center City, University City, Fishtown, Manayunk, Roxborough, etc.) for Philadelphia and (Manhattan, Brooklyn Heights, Park Slope, Staten Island, DUMBO, etc.) for NYC. I'll stick to Scranton with my reasonably-priced Victorian homes (i.e. under $200,000) and my two-hour day-trips into either city, thank you very much.

If money were no object I'd probably choose New York City due to its higher density, superior mass transit system, and just for the incessant "pulse" that it affords 24 hours per day, but Philadelphia isn't a bad choice either.

New York City without a doubt without a doubt, go on a day trip to both cities and you'll see exactly what I'm talking about.

Philly doesn't have that international city feel to it, or a world class city feel. It just feels like a big american city. Now NYC, has both feels to it.

New York is not really comparable to Philadelphia. It's more comparable to London. I personally prefer London. New York is too built up, too crowded and too big for me. I feel claustrophobic there. It is also many times more expensive than Center City Philadelphia.
I prefer Philadelphia by far, Center City is walkable (even though it's quite big), manageable and has a lot going on without feeling overly crowded. It's also manageable price wise, although some areas are very pricey. It's a bargain compared to NYC.

I'm sure that NYC has "the best" of practically anything one would want. However, I'd go crazy trying to deal with all the crowds trying to get it... let alone maintaining a decent standard of living in the meantime. I'd sooner move at a "jogger's pace" through Philly than "a runner's sprint" through New York. Of course, your mileage may vary.
