Default place to go for a big birthday dinner

I am looking for a restraunt to have my husbands birthday dinner. It is the end of march and a lot of our friends will be in town. I was looking for a place where we could have a good meal that isnt too pricey but where we could have a private area/or room. There will be about 10 of us maybe 12 attending.
TIA

Having no idea of what you consider to be "too pricey" or your style, I'd recommend Ansill. Their back dining room is fairly small and with a party that size you'd have most of the room to yourself and your table would be fairly private in relation to the rest of the restaurant. The food overall is considered to be among the very best in the city, I've taken many people there and it's always been successful in wowing everyone (even NYC residents I know, tough crowd). It's not pricey by most standards. It's also not a BYOB, but the wine prices are moderate. The service has always been warm/attentive. Have fun whatever your choice!

We used to go to Buca di Beppo for things like that (Italian family style, just order a variety of dishes and share). The one in Jenkintown had a bunch of small rooms, so you could have one to yourselves if the group was large enough. The smallest group we had was about 8 people and they still put us in a small separate alcove. It worked out really well for birthdays and wedding rehearsal dinners.

I think there's still one in Center City, or you could go to Maggiano's for their family-style menu. It might be the same sort of thing.

You didn't mention budget, location and preference for bar vs. byob. I would, though, enthusiastically second the recommendation for Ansill and would also suggest Chick's Wine Bar, which has a private room, good food and great drinks.

Bridget's in Ambler. It's slightly upscale, yet reasonable. Next door is KC's Alley with live music at night. The food is very good

I second Mamma Marias if you guys are drinkers.. Otherwise, I would say Maggianos is good.. family style - huge portions, not too pricey.
