Default Moving to Philly from Pittsburgh

Well I am moving in a few months for a job near the international airport. I've read some of the other relocation posts, but, in order to get information specific to myself (and a bit of clarity), I have made my own post.

I am thinking about somewhere in Delaware County, maybe Swarthmore, Media, or Aston. But if there are other suggestions, please make them. I was wondering how the commutes to the airport area would be from these points. Is I-95N really crowded in the morning or is it not that bad?

Anyways, here's my info.

Thanks!

When are you moving? Mid-June
Where are you coming from? I've lived in Pittsburgh since coming here for college in 2001. I'm originally from Scranton. Maybe someday I'll move to Erie to leave on each corner of the commonwealth
Why are you moving? Work
Where will you be working? Near the Airport
Have you been here yet? Pretty much only a day trip to Citizen's

Will you buy or rent? Rent
It really doesn't matter. Max $1,500 (including utilities)/ $1,200 (plus utilities)
If renting, are you looking for an apartment, a townhouse or loft? How much can you spend? Doesn't matter.
Max $1,500 (including utilities)/ $1,200 (plus utilities). Basically, I would just like a nice clean place.
Do you prefer hi-rise or walk up? I'd rather a walk-up but it does not really matter as long as there is decent parking and it is nice.

Are you married or single? Do you have children? Just me.
Do you have pets? I'd like to have a dog, probably a small one for company, but it is not necessary.
Do you want or need a yard? Some green space would be nice
Are you keeping a car? Yes
Do you prefer bustling activity or calm and quiet? I am more of a peace and quiet guy, but I also like to be close to activities (if this makes sense)

What do you want to be closest to?
I would like to be within a few miles to basic services/shopping. I could be a little further from work.

Do you want to live with people of a similar age, race, religion or sexual preference or do you prefer a diverse neighborhood? It really doesn't matter to me. Although I am only 25, I am not a party-boy or anything, just laid back. I would like a nice quiet community. I would like a Byzantine Catholic church nearby if possible.

Coke or Pepsi? Pepsi (twist if they still made it)

I don't know about south of the city, but for Ukrainian Byzantine churches there's Annunciation BVM in Melrose Park (Old York Road & Valley Road), St. Anne's in Bucks County, and the Cathedral near 8th & Franklin Street.
Ukrainian Catholic Archdiocese of Philadelphia

Beyond Ukrainians, try:
Byzantine Catholic Church in America - Eastern & Oriental Catholic Directory - By Location - United States - Pennsylvania

Its a little further than Media,Wallingford, and Swarthmore but you might consider the West Chester/Westtown/West Goshen area. The Media, Swarthmore area tend to be on the conservative, older, family oriented side. Great family towns not so much for a single 25 y.o.. West Chester has some relatively newer apartment/townhouse complexes plus you have WCU and a fairly vibrant small downtown area which would be beneficial to a 25 y.o.

Its worth checking out, you would have to see for yourself and decide whether its worth the extra 20-30(compared to Media) minute commute to the Airport.

Aston is another family town without Media or Swarthmores charm. An Applebees /walgreens type town.

Other options to consider if you can stretch your commute a bit would be the Main Line towns(Wayne-Devon-Haverford-Bryn Mawr-Ardmore-Narberth-Bala Cynwd) Manayunk, Conshohocken,King of Prussia,Plymouth Meeting.

Media or Wilmington DE...straight shot commutes and most if not all of what you are looking for. Ridley Park as the dark horse candidate puts you close to work and there is green space to be had there...
