I'm considering a move to Phili, I'm looking for a good neighborhood to rent in. A good neighborhood would consist of young professionals (mid 20's-30's) in an artsy, vibrant community with coffee shops, good restaurants/bars, outdoor dining, ect in a considerably safe area.

My preference is west or northwest of the city, but thats flexible. Our combined income would be around 80,000-90,000 so we'd like to keep rent around or less than 1200/month. We have a dog and will need parking for 2 cars. I'd love a yard!

Does this exist?

Besides Manayunk, consider East Falls, West Mount Airy and Chestnut Hill. These are among the safer Philly neighborhoods towards the NW part of the city that would hold many of your other preferences. None of them may be considered particularly "artsy" except some parts of Main Street in Manayunk. The only thing is that I'm not certain if you could rent a house (which is why I guess you mentioned a yard) for $1200.

If not a lawn, then a dog friendly area with greenways or patchwork of grass along the sidewalks, a park or 2 nearby.
