Default SEPTA strike?

So SEPTA still might go on strike this Sunday is contract negotiations fail.
Are those of us that rely on the subway/buses screwed during this time? I live in South Philly and go to school in University City. I take the Orange and Blue lines everyday. I live ~broad and tasker and live way out of walking distance. I don't own a bike/car (I also have to go to work in center city afterwords and have to wear a suit so biking is out anyway). How am I supposed to get around? I am a student so spending $$ on a Philly carshare car everyday would really hurt me.
Most of my friends from school that live down here are also carless. Any suggestions?

They are not going to strike. This was in today's paper:

Why not get a moped? Much cheaper than a car. Can use it 6-7 months of the year. They are street legal.

At least if they went on strike it would lower the city's death rate.
