texags02 is on a distinguished road
Guys,

Thanks for all the suggestions. I tried to book the Doubletree in Center City, but it was all booked up. So I booked the Marriot Philadelphia Downtown instead, which is on Market Street I believe. Any tips for where to go around there? How to get to the Wachovia Center from there? Places to eat and go out? Thanks for all your help!

Great location. Have lunch at the Reading Terminal Market. It's across the street from the hotel using the back (parking lot) entrance.

You can walk two blocks west to the City Hall courtyard and get the subway to the Wachovia Center. Go southbound and get off at Pattison (last stop) and follow the crowd. Coming back get off at City Hall.

Have fun.

The nicest restaurants and BYOB's are going to be found around Rittenhouse Square (18th + Walnut). Nightlife will be on Rittenhouse Square and in Old City between Market + Chestnut 2nd to 4th Streets.Try Monks Belgian Cafe on 16th between Locust + Spruce. The largest inventory of Belgian beer outside of Belgium.

For good authentic Italian restaurants Ralphs ,Vesuvios, among many others are in the Italian Market area. 9th + Christian area.

University City has some excellent restaurants/bars (34th + Sansom area)
