Moving from New York City To Philadelphia
Hello everyone, I plan to move sometime before the end of the year. What are so me of the BEST LOW CRIME areas to buy a house under $100K. And what are the average heating, water, gas bill a month.

Their is no home in Phila. 100/m or less that is in a good neighborhood, I moved out of phila.5 1/2 yrs ago as did all my family except one brother who has to live their becauce he is a Phila. Police O fficer, he lives in the upper ne. section and he paid in the range of 250,000. You want to pay under 150,000 than be prepared to dodge bullets, and sit on your floor when watching TV so lead does not hit you thru the window. Sorry But Yoy Asked, be careful what you ask for. GOOD LUCK

Wow
Never knew that under 100k you have to live in the slums. I just know it's cheaper real estate compared to NYC

Can you share with us the addresses or zip codes of the places you found? There are some pretty solid houses out there that are stuck in some pretty depressed neighborhoods. I suspect that's where you may be finding some of your deals.
Philly's cost of living is significantly lower than in NYC but no so much that <$100K houses are commonplace. You can probably expect to pay at least $200K for a place in the city that is moderately convenient or comfortable.

i know you probably dont care. but i just dont believe that. nothing "livable" is that cheap. unless you want to live in a shell property.

You'll have to head about 300 miles west to Pittsburgh to find those kinds of housing prices. Even those 'shells' in a decent nabe will run more than that in Philly.
