Default My Philly Photos on March 21, 2009

I burned one Vacation day on the first day of spring and decided to go to Philly in the spur of the moment. I spent a short time in Philly in my first job out of college. The city was great, but the job was horrible so I departed it shortley before a year of living there.

All photos taken by me. I am not one of those people that takes someone's photo off of flickr and uses it on this forum with not credit at all. (Citing photos is not important here, but god forbid if somebody uses sarcasm. Then they are on a 3 week vacation from the forum and called a troll!)

The new Comcast skyscraper is super duper tall! It wasn't there when I lived in Philly.

I love this mural of the S.E. Pennsylvania Amish country right in Center City.

Rittenhouse Square.

I love these buildings.

Inside Corner of City Hall.

I drank here only twice. I use to be a booze hound in Philly, and drank at the Irish Pub on 12th/Walnut street after work. This trip I some how didn't walk this block. Oh well, I didn't want to sit on a bar stool anyways.

I drove out of Center City shortley before 4 PM. I went up Lancaster Ave to my old stomping grounds of Ardmore and shot a few pictures before heading 5 hours west back home. I never had pictures of Ardmore from when I use to live there as I was a fat and lazy drunk at that time.

I lived in a old hotel building that was renovated into apartments.

Excellent Photos! My GF likes taking pictures of the city and hasn't been able to get these good street scape pictures you have (she tends to concentrate on one thing). Do you have a lens for this? Good job!

No I don't have a wide angle lens, but I really need to get one. Then I can take picture of skyscrapers and skylines much better. I tend to angle my way on the street. Some I had to stand in the middle of the street to get. It was all good until I saw some guy gunning it down Locust St. the wrong way. That is all I needed to get killed by some idiot who doesn't know how to drive for a picture.

IZThe411, yes it is one block from Lancaster. It is 3 blocks from the Ardmore Train station. It was sooooo nice to wake up, stumble to the train station, and be in C.C. in 20 minutes only a few blocks from work. Now I got to drive 35 minutes to the exurbs. It is on Cricket ave in Ardmore. A very nice place to live, but I got sick of the snobby attitude people had on the mainline. I was raised in a middle class, blue collar, suburb of Pittsburgh, and then moved to the Main line. Some of the people I met there were very down to earth though.

Terrific photos. I thought I knew most of the murals in Center City, but didn't recognize the one you shot. Do you recall where it's located?

Very nice clear high res pics, what kind of camera did you shoot them with? Are you also posting these in the Pittsburgh forums?

Did you really find Ardmore that snobby? I'm always debating with people on here about the snobbiness of the area and a lot them seem to think there is little to none there, whereas I have found quite a lot of pretension in the few encounters I've had there and have kind of extrapolated that that represents the majority of the Main Line population.

Great pictures! Since I'm NOT a local, I didn't recognize too many places besides the more touristy ones in Philadelphia, but enjoyed them all. You have a good eye!
