Working in Linwood and Living in Philly?
Hi,
I am a 25 year old female accountant and I will be relocating to Linwood for work.
I would like to experience city living so I don't think I want to live in Linwood. The max I'm willing to commute is 35 minutes and I'd like to live in an apartment. I'm having difficulty deciding on which area in Philadelphia I should look for apartments. Linwood is West of Philadelphia but I'm weary of living in West Philadelphia because I heard it's unsafe. I'd like to live somewhere that is relatively safe. Any help would be appeciated.

Center city Philly, West Chester (not to be confused with Chester) and West Conshohocken would all suit you and are about a 25-30 minute drive.
Use this to check distances and times from each location.

In Philadlephia I would recommend Center City/Art Museum area/University City. Keep in mind if you live in the city of Philadlephia you will have to pay a 3.5% Philadlephia city wage tax on your earnings.
Linwood is an aging industrial area that leaves alot to be desired. On the bright side 10-20 minutes away you have some pretty good options. Media,West Chester,Chadds Ford,Glen Mills,Concordville, Boothwyn. On a more modest scale maybe Brookhaven,Aston,Wallingford which are close to Linwood would be worth looking into as well.
West Chester and Media are fantastic planned towns although small. Chadds Ford Glen Mills Concordville are more autocentric newer suburbia with town centers etc.. Boothwyn,Aston,Brookhaven,Wallingford are nice older middle class towns.
Good luck

rainrock has given you some excellent areas to look at. Since Linwood and many of these older towns are on the train line, it is just 20 minutes into the city. West Chester is a college town but has excellent restaurants and shopping area. Media has a downtown area along with the train line and trolley. It's been a long time since I was 25; however, Media's night life was always decent. Not sure about now but there are good restaurants and a community theatre. Wallingford and Swarthmore are also nice areas. If you are planning on renting an apartment, Swarthmore has old homes that have been turned into apartments. If you are planning on buying a condo, I think that I would look at Chadds Ford and Glen Mills area.

Thanks for all the helpful replies
I think I'm looking to move into the high rise apartment community near Center City or the Art Museum area. Not sure yet
