Golf/condo communities within 2 hours of NYC...PA?
Dear all,
We are moving from the midwest to Manhattan for work in May. We have a lot of exploring to do first, but thinking ahead, we will probably want an affordable place to get away on summer weekends for golf and biking.
Out here there are nice golf communities within 2 hours of Chicago such as Lake Geneva where you can get a condo or townhome right on the course without the hassle and cost of maintaining a second single family home.
We have explored some of the areas around NYC, but so far we've only seen single family homes and private golf courses...no golf communities like we are accustomed to.
Can anyone recommend nice golf communities with condos or townhomes for us to check out within 2 hours of NY in any direction? Say from Phila to CT?
Thank you!

There are beautiful townhomes in the Talamore Country Club in Ambler, Montgomery County, PA. Just search realtor.com for condos in Ambler or 19002.
We lived there for 10 years in a single home. Idyllic location and great golf course.
This is a high demand community, but there are usually one or two townhomes on the market.
Good luck.

If one of you is 55 yrs old there are several "over 55" settlements in Monroe Township, Middlesex county, N.J. that consist of 2 bed, 2 bath cluster condos built around golf courses with pools, tennis etc that would make beautiful vacation homes. They are a bargain because there are a glut of them (too many were built). The town is exactly half way between NY and Philly, 45 miles from each city, at exit 8A on the New Jersey Turnpike.
Rossmore, Clearbrook, Concordia, Wittingham are some of the bigger communities.

Thank you!
This is exactly the information we were looking for. We are not > 55 but Talamore would be great choice, close to my Mom and Dad in Plymouth Meeting, and we had not heard of, so we will check it out. Thanks again. More suggestions welcome.

Are you just looking for golf communities or are you looking for golf communities within an area that is similar to Lake Geneva?
I also really like the Talamore suggestion, its a very nice community. Can't say I think the area is at all like Lake Geneva, but still very nice in its own right.
