Some advice please...
Looking for some relocation advice. I will be graduating from University of Delaware May 30th and start work July 6th at the Naval Inventory Control Point (19111). I am willing to live anywhere relatively safe, as long as the commute is bearable (have no car yet but am open to driving but prefer public trans), suitable for a 23yr old male (very mature), and affordable housing ($1k cap). I am originally from Central Jersey and need to find a place b/c a 1.5 hr commute is not an option. At this point I am open to many options. I've gotten advice from some friends to consider the Manayunk/Wissahickon area. That area sounds great, but I would like a broader range, maybe farther east as I would most likely be going to Jersey (08861) on weekends. I also have a brother that lives in Fairless Hills (19030) if that matters at all. Considering living with him for a few weeks, but he's a newlywed so don't want to intrude. Again, I'm open to many locations, even center city area. Please help... Thanks in advance.

What exactly are you looking for. I live down the street from the NSD. There are houses and apartments in that area that you could look at. Its situated in a mostly residential area so finding an apartment/house wouldn't be that hard, and its a quick ride to the Tacony-Palmyra or Betsy Ross Bridge. If you're looking for nightlife, etc, its not the place as most of that is downtown.

You would be happy with Manayunk, Wissahickon , Roxborough they all have easy access to center city via public trans, as well as easy access to I 76. Good luck

Rhawnhurst and Fox Chase neighborhoods of NE Phila might work for you. Decent neighborhoods, some nightlife, close to work and easy to get downtown or to NJ.
