Default Gated Communities in Fort Washington Area?

May be relocating to the Fort Washington area; seeking clean, quiet gated community of single family homes, possibly new construction, for family of five. Slightly rural is okay, too.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Well, Fort Washington definitely is not near anything rural; you're pretty much in the heart of semi-dense suburbia there. You could probably find some fairly expansive homes but I'd be surprised if there were gated communities there... but if someone has knowledge otherwise, please share with us.

Whitpain Township (Blue Bell area)? Horsham would be a fine fit as well.

Can I ask why you want a gated community? If its an issue of safety, where you would be looking isn't dangerous. There are many communities with sort of an entrance point to get to the homes. But can't think of any gated ones off the top of my head. But, if you are in search of gated for added security, its really not necessary. The area is safe.

Gated communities aren't the norm in the area. Like even a very nice golf course community not far from Fort Washington (its in Ambler) that comes to mind, Talamore Country Club, isn't gated.

And the area near Fort Washington isn't rural in the least. It has a sizable business district that is set apart from the residential part, and its an active established suburb. So, if that is something you are looking for, this wouldn't fit that need. New construction is also not too common in this area. You can find newer probably but not much brand new. Like I said, its a pretty established area, there was more building about 10-15 years ago that went along with the older homes in the area, but not a ton of new construction recently.

Thanks, I appreciate all the info. I've never been to the area so have no idea, but have friends who used to live in Blue Bell 17 yrs ago. I'm sure much has changed since then.

Thanks for your help! I'm not a golfer--not looking for that kind of community. I only mentioned that rural would be fine if it's not too far from the FW area, say...no more than 20 miles. I appreciate the info.

Hi kate, there are some in the Blue bell/North Wales area. One even has a guard shack at the gate.

More or less you want a community with a guard shack because people can still get in the gate if there is not a guard.
