Default safe area to live by horsham

I am looking for a safe area to live in an older community. I am single, mid 50ish and have pets. I am looking to rent for the first year. I don't have children so the scool district ratings don't matter. I would really like to live in a converted house instead of an apartment complex. Any ideas where to look?

Ambler and Lansdale offer the type of housing you seek. Older communities, seem relatively safe.
Glenside might also fit the bill, and is closer to the city.

Hatboro is pretty close to Horsham, and is an old community. Not a whole lot to do in terms of shopping, but it is quite safe and has a lot of older homes.
