Can someone help me with a shortcut from Bala to Malvern (house, office)

To avoid 76? I have not sold my home here in Maine yet and will be starting my new job on 8/10 so I will be staying at my brothers.

I have heard there are back roads to get there.

Also, are there times that are better to leave? I have to be to work at 8, but I was thinking if the commute was really bad I would leave their house at around 5 and go run at Valley Forge Park and then shower at the office so that I could avoid the traffic.

Also, can anyone else suggest any good places in the area to run in other than Valley Forge Park?

If you are leaving at 7 AM, you shouldn't run into too many problems no matter which route you choose. I would start with whatever mapquest recommends and if the Schuylkill or Blue Route to 202 is too congested you can try Route 1 to 252 all the way out to Malvern.

Where do you get Rte 1?

It runs right through the center of Bala Cynwyd - heading north it turns into Roosevelt Blvd once you cross the Schuylkill Expressway, heading south it's City Ave or City Line Ave. You would be taking Rt 1 South to Rt 252 North then either a back road like Swedesford Rd or maybe 202 depending where your job is.
