Need a Real Estate Agent ASAP
I have a roommate living with me temporarily who just started his PhD program at Temple who needs to purchase a home ASAP. He has yet to find an agent who will return phone calls, probably because of the price range of home he's looking for...under $80,000. He has narrowed his search to Sharon Hill in Delaware County and just needs an agent to get him started with looking at listings there. He knows what he wants and it'll be a quick process.
Anyone know of anyone? Thanks.

Maybe I'm missing something but I find it hard to believe in our current housing market that anyone would have a hard time finding a real estate agent in spite of the low end housing your roommate is looking at.
All he should have to do is call a real estate company and they can provide an agent. It will greatly improve his odds if he's pre-approved with letter in hand.

One would think it wouldn't be difficult, however the rush of first time homebuyers looking to receive that $8000 tax credit is apparently too much to handle and they're cherry-picking which customers they'd rather help out. I had the same experience when I purchased my house in Fishtown 5 years ago. The real estate "professionals" in this area leave a lot to be desired. Evidently unless they're doing open houses most seem to take the weekends off. Great idea!

I know in my area I wouldnt cherry pick any customers, a customer is a customer despite sale price because ultimately the valuable service I provide them would hopefully lead to referalls for me. Unfortunately I would have replied to this thread but I work mainly in Phila/Bucks/Montco and I don't feel I know enough about Delco to give as great of service as I should.

Good to hear, though I can tell you at the two large "prestige" firms in Center City, that practice occurs very frequently.

No wonder real estate agents have a bad reputation. I hope that guy is driven out of the business by the current slump along with all of the other bad agents out there.
