Moving to Philly area.. Where to rent appartment
Hi,
We are moving to philly area by sept end. I have got a job in Bristol, PA and my husband's job is in Cherryhill, NJ. We want to rent an appatment such that I have a commue of 15 mins and my Husband is fine with commute of upto 45 mins.
I have heard that apt rentals are not safe in Philly area. Can anyone suggest me a safe suburban area to rent appt. I would really appreciate your help.

Whats your budget? There are a lot of nice apartments in Bucks County that would put you within 15 minutes from Bristol. I would suggest looking in Fairless Hills, Langhorne, Holland and Yardley. If I knew your budget I could be of more help as well.

If you want suburbs, maybe look into NJ? The closest area to Cherry Hill is Old City/Center City Philadelphia, which is pricier. It might still be possible to find something in your budget, but it would be harder. Bristol isn't too far from NJ, so you could go somewhere up near there, but across the river. You could also try Levittown, my cousins lived there for several years and liked it. Yardley is also really nice, as oodsie suggested.
Btw, apartment rentals in Philly are perfectly safe, it just depends on the neighborhood you'd be in. Some people believe that you'll get shot the second you cross the city line, but that's not true.

If you want around a 15 minute commute to Bristol and a reasonable commute for your husband, check out Burlington, New Jersey. It's due east of Bristol just across the Delaware River in Burlington County, NJ and an easy commute (around 13 miles) to Cherry Hill. Check out The Chateau or Easthampton Gardens
apartment complexes. Nicer, well kept up properties that are in your price range.

Actually, I asked my staffing agency to find more options to work in Philly and they have provided another option for me in NE Philly north of Frankford on Roosevelt blvd. Looks like a better option for me as my husband will be working in Cherry Hill.
1) Where should we rent ? Philly with City tax or NJ with higher state tax ? we would prefer the city because I may have to do weekends but, looks like nearby area is not safe ?? am I right ?
2) How is that delaire landing apartment ? any suggestions ?
I would really appreciate your suggestions. I have no idea what to do ?

Delaire Landing is nice, it's in a pretty good area. I know people who live there. You could also rent a 2 bedroom townhouse/condo for that price instead of an apartment, I know of a few that would fit that area/pricing nicely.

Thank you all for your response. I totally appreciate it.
BTW, we are finalizing to stay little out of Philly city so, we don't have to pay wage tax. May be Salem Harbour apartments (state road/Grant Ave) or Franklin commons apartments in Bensalem, PA (Near 513/132).
Safety wise any suggestions on these ? which one are better ?
