Montco/S Bucks Rural Areas?
Okay...not "too" rural, but I think I may want to be close to my family members who live in Plymouth Meeting, Jenkintown and Glenside. Don't need a big house but would like a half to an acre for my dogs and a veggie garden. Love the quaint-looking, retro homes of Oreland and Wyndmor. Any decent, QUIET neighborhoods in the low 300's? Neighborhoods to avoid? Nuclear facilities nearby? I know I don't want to be near any mega shopping centers/malls and do not mind driving to shops. The more pet-friendly, the better. THANKS

No advice on this one? Job is irrelevant because I am a part-time Homebound teacher and can work in any district in PA. Looking for a more non-development type of home with a bit of ground, peace and quiet and 10 mile radius or so around the Plymouth Meeting, Jenkintown, Glenside areas.

Ambler (very close to all the areas you mentioned) may fit the bill, it has some homes in that range that could have some charm with some sprucing. The main strip (Butler Pike) is on the up-and-up with restaurants and shops.
I don't konw what you mean about a "quiet" neighborhood -- you mean, not a busy town or major traffic or somewhat?

Thanks, maestro. I was thinking non-family oriented, stand alone home. Or one with only a few neighbors. They're tough to find, I guess. but regular housing "developments" with a bunch of kids are not my cup of tea.

There's developments pretty much everywhere in Montco/Bucks now, but there's still some areas that I would consider rural.
Try northwestern Montco, as in Harleysville, Schwenksville, and beyond. Also try northern Bucks, as in north of Doylestown. You're not within 10 miles of your relatives, but still within 30 in most places.

OK, then Ambler wouldn't be for you. It's definitely more neighborhood-ish.

My youngest son and I are doing College visits and stopped by Ursinus College in Collegeville about a month ago. Collegeville is a walkable cute town within easy driving distance of Plymouth Meeting, Glenside, etc. Borough of Collegeville - Home

I live in Harleysville and am literally 5 min from the "boonies" but thankfully am still close to everything I need. I can get to Plymouth Meeting in under 25 minutes. Just one short ride down the Turnpike which is less than 4 miles away. There are plenty of quiet neighborhoods with large yards. The neighborhood is quiet. Even during the summer I don't hear to much, and I actually live in a fairly crowded part of town. Any questions, feel free to ask!
