Be ready for more fare hikes as if it's not expensive enough as it is for "the service" Septa provides.

Shino306 is on a distinguished road

Shino may I ask what you do for a living? Are you management? Do you work for family? Did you get a large inheritance?
By your own admission you rarely take septa, you are very unlikely to become laid off and if you are no big deal.
Your last post is insulting on so many levels. So public transportation is not a "value added trade" then why are so many people in an uproar about the strike. So everyone should be fired and have there jobs replaced? You have obviously never fought for anything nor took self sacrifice to stand for something you believe in.
Because of people like you workers rights have been eroded down over the years to allow large company's to walk all over the worker.(example; Wake-Up Wal-Mart: The Real Wal-Mart Facts)
Do you also believe that sweat shops are fine and the minimum wage is fare? Or how about the cost of health care, very affordable right?
Do you really think that if the twu disappeared and everyone of septa's employees were making $9 an hour there would be huge savings passed off to the customer? No, it would just increase profits for the company. But in your mind that's fine, right? Large profits for the company but scraps for the labor.

I Apologize for my rant and I know my point is lost on Shino .And besides if they don't like it they can just quite right!
#1: I never said they didn't have a right to strike now, show me where I said that. All I alluded to was that going forward they should make it illegal like it is in most other states, even those with huge metropolitan centers/ridership...NYC and DC.
#2: Sorry, learning how to drive a bus is not difficult and there are plenty of people out of work right now that would be willing to learn for a job while the Union pulls this act. I made no comment about the value of public transportation, I was referring that there was nothing special about driving a bus, that couldn't be easily learned by another person, especially with current unemployment over 10%. The same comment could be extended to a lot of jobs unless you're highly trained/specialized..brain surgeons, bomb deactivators, etc.
#3: Let's see...I walk to work which is why I don't ride the bus or subway often, don't have a trust fund, am not management nor work for a family (don't know what you meant by that), rather a very large impersonal company. Due to the fact that I was heavily recruited by my current employer and having watched both my parents being laid off several times in their careers due to the economy (80's stuff and tech bubble burst), I negotiated a very generous lay-off provision. Plus my DH and I live well below our means due to how we were both raised and the knowing the importance of saving money in case something does happen and the fact that we don't want to work forever. Plus, financial advisors recommend you have 3-6 months of income saved up in the event something does happen. We have well over a year saved. So, even if I did get laid off, we'd be just fine due to being fiscially conservative, which does entail sacrafice that most of America is just now having to learn since it was most of America that wanted the newest, best, biggest, etc of whatever so leveraged themselves to the hilt or used the equity in their house to buy it and why America is now dealing with this recession.
#4: Plus, let's not start talking about sacrifice or standing up for what you believe in until you actually know me and things I've gone through in my life. There was a decent period of time where I didn't talk to my family just because of those reasons you claim I know nothing about.
#5: Finally, I think the union/Willie Brown is being selfish and it was absurd not to take the deal that was being offered to them, and if you want to extend that to me being a super Capitalist, that's fine, however a lot of Philadelphia is not happy with SEPTA right now either. Have you even taken a look at comments on Philly.com when the journalists write articles about the strike? They make my post seem pretty benign.
