Ah the color of their skin doesn't matter...it's the content of their character...I would trade my newer white neighbors in a heartbeat for people like the Asians and black professionals who have more recently moved into my old neighborhood; it was the _____ that were the public nuisance and a big part of why we moved...

I'm certainly happy to see so many good comments regarding Lansdowne. We moved here from NY about ten years ago and have never regretted the move. At the time of the move I realized Lansdowne would be going through a transition. Many of the houses for sale at that time were long time residents selling thier large houses to relocate for retirement. I saw Lansdowne as a jewel in the rough - the location was great for a frequent traveler as I am and the access to Center City as well as the country is unmatched. Housing was and still is a bargin
The changes I have seen have been for the most part positive the farmers market , Regency Cafe and Mission Burrito are terrific additions to the community. I understand the are a lot of Arts people in Lansdowne - I'm hoping we can see more of their influence reflected in the community. I'm always oping that the theater downtown would utilized.
My wife and I have been considering where we want to retire (still too far off) and after much thought we realized that there was no reason to leave Lansdowne.

I PMd you a bunch of jack and thomas burns who live in the general vicinity of Lansdowne and seem to be about the right age...Jack Burns was the only entry to come up so I would start there...if you know their ages you could rule out the other ones...or call 'em all!

Colonial Kitchen in Downtown Lansdowne has the best hoagies I have ever eaten anywhere.
As for crime coming in from West Philly, it seems that it isn't a problem until you get around Church Lane, where there are some pretty rough looking areas. Right in Lansdowne looks great to me, having been there 3 times in the past year
