Default Moving to Philly - Need Some Advice

I'm looking to relocate to Philly and would like to rent an apartment/condo in a nice, upscale suburb. I'll be commuting to Center City daily so I'd like to be near a train. Would like to keep the commute to 30 minutes or less. Can anyone recommend a good suburb? Thanks

I would recommend:

Chestnut Hill/West Mt. Airy (on the R7 train line)

or

Ardmore
Narberth
Haverford
Bryn Mawr
Wynnewood (all on the R5) line

You may also want to consider Moorestown, Collingswood or Haddonfield in New Jersey. You can take the high speed line into center city.

With all due respect to irishkenzo, I find Hatboro/Horsham to be rather dull. I grew up down the road in Abington, whose sidewalks roll up almost as fast at night when the shopping malls close, and I'd sooner live there - or even Glenside or Jenkintown - than Hatboro. Plus it's more like 40 minutes on the R2 commuter train from Hatboro to Center City.

On the other hand, I concur with newmarlig's suggestions (except for Moorestown which I'm not familar with) as they are all active communities with interesting downtown areas.

Tone - Moorestown is very similar to Haddonfield.

Now that I think about it, I might throw in Ambler as well... if the OP doesn't mind a 40 minute train commute into downtown. Then again, you'll be close to the suburban office parks; the same would apply with the other PA burbs and Philly neighborhoods mentioned.
