I hear there is a strong PR community in North Philly (eastern areas). City of Camden too. It's the ghetto, but it's better then PR. You can get a job in the center city then one day live somewhere very nice and suburban.

Default this will help you - good luck

How do you move? Simple. You sell of all your personal property except what is necessary. Pack whatever remains and go. If you need a check list, here's one: How to Move Yourself | eHow.com

FYI - we are an industrial town. Factories surround the city and pump all kinds of pollutants into the air. Not the best place for an asmatic.

Philly is the second largest city on the East Coast. With that population comes a huge economy. If you are willing to work, there are plenty of opportunities for you.

There is a HUGE HUGE HUGE latino/puerto rican population in philly right around 5TH & LUZERNE.

Map of N 5th St & W Luzerne St Philadelphia, PA by MapQuest

Puerto Rico Day is huge there. Plenty of Rican flags. Plus residents set up lil road side tables and sell a variety of Puetro Rican items and foods. Porky's which turned me onto empanadas has its menu all in Spanish, no hablamos ingles aqui.

Philadelphia's least expensive college has to be the community college: Community College of Philadelphia

It takes about thirty days to establish residency. You must have a Philadelphia address, a PA license which reflect the address, and bills delivered to the adress.

Philadelphia has been under a basic democratic-socialistic government for the last +50years. The city is a liberal, entitlement zone, and goes to great lengths to cater to the minorities living here. You will not have too many problems getting the assistance you need. But you do have to establish residency before you receive a dime; they will bus you out of the city via Travelers Aid if not. The only problem you may have is the paper work and hoops you have to jump thru.

did you ever move? there's a fairly large number of puerto ricans in the franciville neighborhood which, while a little rundown, isn't a bad place to live at all. camden is worse than philly. as for the PR area, the lower on fifth st the better. there are much worse areas of Philly than the Puerto Rican area though the neighborhood is in an area that has been especially hard hit by the loss of manufacturing.

edd09cor, Please start a new thread. I believe that it would be very difficult for someone that is not a resident to get any financial assistance. It's generally recommended that you do not move to a new area without a job offer.

I guess that isn't in the immigrants brochure.
