Talking Looking for nice communities near bryn mawr/main line/del county

Hi, Thank you in advance for your responses.
My husband and I (late 30's, early 40's) are possibly relocating to the Bryn Mawr area in the next month. We have 3 dogs, (small and very well behaved). Can anyone suggest nice communities in the area that are dog friendly, safe, walkable and affordable, ($1000 to $1400)? We will rent initially and prefer housing with garage, close to parks. Safety is first priority. Can anyone give me insight on this area? We will be visiting next week and would like to have an idea of where to start looking. We are also very health conscious. Are there any whole foods stores, farmers markets and activities in that area?

Thanks!

Welcome to the area. If you're moving to the Bryn Mawr area, the best place to live is Bryn Mawr! Apartments buildings abound on Montgomery, Lancaster and Haverford Aves. Bryn Mawr also has many house apartments. Check out Craigslist, many renters cater to the college crowd (Villanova, Bryn Mawr, Rosemont etc) though.

If you can't find anything in Bryn Mawr, try Ardmore. It's right down Lancaster Ave, closer to the city. It's also walkable, has some great areas to live in and a lot of stores and restaurants.

As for health food stores, Whole Foods is down Lancaster Ave in Wynnewood or up the road on Lancaster Ave in Devon. Trader Joe's is in Ardmore. Bryn Mawr has its own health food store called Arrowroot. It's been there for years.

Good luck!

Around Bryn Mawr they are all nice. Once you leave West Philly any town along Lancaster Ave is nice. Narberth, Ardmore, Rosemont, Bryn Mawr, Villanova or Wayne.
