Hi, I'm originally from Long Island NY, and I am now living here in San Antonio (yup SPURS land). We are planning on moving back to the East and we have our sights in the Exton, Downington PA area, which i hear is a really nice area. I was wondering if you guys can give me any information regarding taxes in this area. Real state tax, property taxes, county/city taxes etc or even school information. San Antonio has a high real state tax.

Is there a website I can visit to check info? I would appreciate any information..

Thanks in advance...

Default Downingtown School District Taxes

The Exton/Downingtown area taxes will run you about 5000-6000 for an older home and 6,000 to 7,500 for a newer home. New construction 8,000 to 15,000. These all depend on home and lot size.

There are no real bargains in real estate/school taxes left in South Eastern Pennsylvania. However if you don't mind an older home they are more affordable.

You mentioned Long Island as your former home. I have clients that just built a new home in the Harleysville area and at 9,400 they are still saving money compared to what they paid in NY and they feel they got a much better school system in the process.

If the Exton area is where you husband will be working then you want to stay pretty close. I know some people who actually live in Lancaster county and commute to the area. You get a lot more for you money out there and it is an easy commute with route 30.

All the best.
