Have you ever read "Ender's Game" by Orson Scott Card? It is a sci-fi novel, but a theme towards the end is about two kids who start posting in political and philosophical online forums and gain a lot of respect due to their arguments. The other posters don't know they are only kids. Their posts become so popular that they influence world policies.

I think philosophers would love the interchange of online forums. You know we do have some modern, brilliant philosophers around today, and they are probably posting on sophisticated philosophy themed forums right now. I doubt many would have the patience to debate the people one finds in regular forums like this.
I haven't heard of it, but it sounds very interesting.

I think Baudrillard would have some fairly interesting things to say about humanity communicating via a vehicle of the simulacrum.

BAUDRILLARD:

The Internet knows no night. It is perpetual day. Posting embodies our fear of the dark, of night, of the other side of things.

"As the Bible says, the truly wise man is the one who believes unquestioningly. You all occupy your time with trivia to avoid realizing how meaningless your lives really are. The only thing worth doing is to prepare yourself for the Judgement. I assure you that the true believer who does not sin will live forever in bliss. Bless you all, my Friends. Socrates"

Yep. surprised me, too.
