What is the most harmful myth/lie that can be perpetuated by humans to humans?

I really hope to get some answers in this thread. Please feel free to explain your answer at length or if you just want to leave a short answer - that's good too.

That the country you were born in entitles its citizens to God-given privileges that other people cannot hope to merit unless they immigrate to your country according to your country's arbitrary laws that its people have made up and amended from time to time, and worship that particular God that has so anointed that country's people.

Default What is the most harmful myth/lie that can be perpetuated?

...That humans are somehow separate, "special" and aloof from nature and/or the planet in general and therefore given free reign to be "kings" of the place and use it however we want, whenever we want.

That God will torture you for eternity if you're not behaving perfectly now...

That would make a person feel constantly guilty, live in fear and be depressed about being a failure. Most such people don't become better either. They are stuck in this bad condition by this lie of hell.

That's a tough one because there's so much to choose from.

But at a fundamental level, the most harmful lie you can tell someone is that they are not good enough / worthy enough to be treated well or to be worthy of their own dreams and aspirations. If you get them young, when they are vulnerable and not fully formed and experienced, it's particularly easy to set the stage for lifelong anxiety, fear, depression, anger, self-defeating and self-destructive behaviors, etc. Such people have to work ten times as hard just to function, and I seldom meet one who has really broken free of the subjective feeling that they're inadequate and/or worthless.

1) That there is no God, or no personal God who rewards good deeds and punishes bad deeds.
2) That there is no right or wrong; it's all relative. "If it feels good, do it!"
3) That there is no hell.
4) That all truth can be reduced to physics.
