Subsidizing the poor with taxes costs less than what would happen if they were not subsidized, which would include:

Riots

Violent revolution

Increased crime rates - murder, theft, etc.

Other stuff the state & government does not want to happen.

Subsidizing the poor is an insurance policy against the poor getting really pissed off.

It's a catch-22

Support the poor and many of them will remain idle, taking advantage of, draining and eventually bankrupting the system set up to support them.

Don't support the poor and they will do whatever they can to survive, including crime, begging and scamming. Businesses will also take advantage of them, paying peanuts to do crappy miserable jobs with no benefits. Eventually they get sick of their plight and revolt... renewing the cycle and spawning a whole new set of winners and losers.

There is a difference between the working poor and the un-working because they are too lazy, drug/alcohol addicted. When we give assistance to the working poor, we are really subsidizing their employers. Their employers are reaping profits at OUR expense. And, no, everyone can't go to college or who will pick up your trash, babysit your child, clean your house, serve you meals out, take your tickets at the box office, ring up your purchase at the big box store...................

Look at illegal immigration and the anchor babies and the cost involved. You can check out facts on C-D in the Political Forum, sub-forum, "Illegal Immigration".

Once again, you say nothing about corporate welfare, which is a matter of record, and far outpaces the welfare given to the less fortunate. Your purposeful obliviousness is a little shocking.
