I realize that some people don't see how futile is the idea of trying to "shape the world" in some "long lasting" way...
Even if you or your group succeed in "shaping" the whole world according to your beliefs or preferences, that "shape" won't last more than a few centuries, at most...
The world is always changing, and even if you shape the entire world according to your will, in no more than 300 or 400 years the world will be totally different from what you "achieved" for a while...
Well, the world changed a lot in the past 3000 years, and it doesn't seem those changes have any "logical" direction, those are just random changes without any apparent "purpose" that I can see...

I agree. Everything we know is in a constant state of flux and outcomes are always uncertain. I think the Daoists and Heraclitus embraced this point of view. But it doesn't keep humans from trying.
