IMO, technology makes it easier for us to do stupid things.

Human beings are not stupid.

We are all very intelligent. Technology does not make us stupider or smarter.

Being stupid or smart is a choice which each human makes every day.

Do you spend your days studying or playing Netflix?

Whether you are stupid or smart is a byproduct of your life decisions, not how fast technology evolves.

No, it's making us more stupid or less self-reliant more often than not.

And the consequences can actually go far more beyond what was discussed here. It made our social lives less fun and interesting. I don't really see a good reason why more people having faster access to everything, or any other pros of today's technology is necessarily "better" than doing things the old way.

Netflix has disrupted in many ways, and that also leads to our bad economic situations. Movie theaters changed to showing movies digitally, so the craft of running a motion picture film projector is gone. It's not just that craft, I'm talking about any craft.

People argue that new technology also eliminates the need to rely on others and makes their field of pursuit more democratic. But, why do people really think hierarchy is inherently "bad"?

Also, I'm sick of like-minded people being sidelined and called luddite or "nostalgiatard" because they dare say something negative about modern technology, no matter how small.

Technology, specifically the internet, has caused people to stop thinking rationally and critically.

We are exposed to so much information, that people tend not to question it anymore or do not seek further information on a subject.

Technology is what has allowed the human race to spread around the entire globe and increase life expectancy several times over since the dawn of civilization.

It's also what created the Great Pacific Garbage Patch, thousands of toxic waste dumps, and the Chernobyl and Fukushima exclusion zones.

You could argue that the overall quality of life is better now than it was in the Dark Ages. Compared to then the average person has a much better education.

If you look at the most recent technology that everyone has though, you could say that it is making people dumber, to the point of costing some their lives. How many people have fallen off a cliff or gotten into accident from taking a selfie?

Technology has become so good that it's mesmerized millions of people into a delusional state. They feel empowered by the wealth of information at their fingertips, but never learned the meaning of the phrase "consider the source."

The problem isn't technology itself, but how humans use it. At the end of the day tech isn't sentient (at least yet) therefore it's silly to blame it for people's stupidity. It is a tool that is meant to facilitate our day to day life. Unfortunately humans use that as an excuse to justify laziness (I'm guilty of it as well).

My main long term is that technology leads to day to day interactions becoming more and more obsolete. I would hate for retail to be entirely online in the future.

Society tells people, especially younger people like me who are part of millennials, that technology is more often than not something we should be grateful for. Why should I be on-balance grateful for it when it's leading to all these things that are good becoming obsolete?
