Morrison must've written that song after he grew the beard and became intentionally visually 'strange', no (I say this as someone who has much the same appearance myself)? As a musing on how he was then received? From what little I recall reading, he disliked that he was treated as little more than a sex symbol originally, and so made himself intentionally stranger...physically, anyway. Then he died.

I wondered a lot, if he had a high IQ and just was unable to deal with the herd mentality, and started acting weird later to turn to drugs?

He was extremely talented, but as they do now, back in the day, people used him for what he could give them. Sad....

I have no idea how I am perceived. That belongs to whomever is judging me.

I am more of a go along to get along type. Don't give too many folks a second thought.

Pardon as I expand upon your quandary of others labeling. Today at work I listened to a 14 year old spout every profanity he could muster to be seen as "tough". Had he expanded his knowledge of English composition he would have been less distraught. Then there was the store stalker who enjoys rubbing up against young kids.. strange ? Well pardon those of us who think it's neither acceptable or socially encouraged. It's the old joke.. of the feather vs the whole chicken..

I wasn't talking about things like that...and I used a perfectly good example...

yes, the things you are talking about are more then strange....you know it and I know it...

What I'm talking about are things that people do, which is normal in their everyday lives, that others deem weird or strange, b/c they are unable to view anything beyond their daily lives....

For instance, I won't drive with people any longer, I drive myself, b/c I was in several accidents with other people...and yes, I'm afraid to drive with others.

When I go out to eat with friends, I tell them, they have a choice, they can either drive with me, or I meet them there, but I refuse to drive with anyone any longer....and one woman gets all bent out of shape about it, b/c she is unable to allow, and accept the fact, that maybe it's me and not her, that I'm simply afraid to drive with other people. She calls that weird.

Ever since I was a kid, I get up very early in the morning, and when people find out, they make a face and say, "Well, what time do you go to bed?" and then deem me strange.

I travel alone, why? Because it's my vacation, and my money, I don't want to travel with someone else and worry about doing something while there, that I don't want to do. I do not deem a vacation regimented by clocks, cell phones and TV, I simply want to relax, read, forget about time, and the world around me for my vacation, get up when I want, go to bed when I want and eat when I want.

People are unable to allow others and view anything outside their schedules and lives as strange.

Those are the things I'm talking about....

Everybody is strange, some are just better at hiding it then others. The whole human condition is strange and miraculous. It doesn't make sense. So many unanswered questions.

There is nothing/no one on this thread that strikes me as any stranger than another. Why would, for example, a pagan living in a tiny house (a big trend now btw) be any stranger than a family of 6 living in ghetto apartment surrounded by gunfire, or a hermit living in a tent in the woods surrounded by black bear? None of these things are strange to me. They are just individual choices.

Is it considered strange because of the forgoing of a perceived better choice? Maybe it may be unique if a well-off person chose to live in the 'hood, or the tent, but I don't find that strange. I know (and have read of) people who have done just that. Those who judge are often not aware (or don't care to be aware) of the possibilities/motivations/constraints of others.

Getting up early, driving/vacationing by yourself is perceived as strange? Wow. Maybe you happen to associate with people who have limited experiences/thinking (to put it nicely) OR you are misinterpreting their banter as judgment.

I disagree with your above bolded generalization of all people. I try not to associate with people who view things this way.

How could anyone go through the twist and turns of the human experience and not be a little strange. In the final analysis there is no normal.
