Default Ok - so I experienced humidity this weekend in Chicago and Milwaukee

Just wanted to remind everyone that, while we're roasting here in 105 degree weather, at least it's NOT HUMID!!! It's been a few years since we've traveled somewhere humid in the summer and we were quickly reminded why we hate it....it was only in the mid to high 80's but it felt miserable to us...and the humidity wasn't even that high. How the heck did I live in places with humidity all summer plus 80's and 90's all those years????

Just wanted to throw out a little silver lining to our 105+ degree cloud

We were in Los Cabos, Mexico for 5 days in September of 2002 and it felt MUCH more miserable than our 105 and 6% humidity. Good grief! I'd stand outside for 5 minutes and I'd be drenched!

Worse yet, I've also been in Michigan in the summer, temperature was in the low 90's, but with the 80% humidity, it felt much worse than 110 degrees here.

The good thing about the Phoenix heat is if you sit in the shade with a drink, you feel OK. With the humidity, shade does not help.

Still in Michigan and, much like Chicago, very hot and humid. Am so looking forward to getting out of Michigan and moving to 'Zona so I can enjoy the sun and all that "dry heat". I absolutely love it! Anyone want to buy a condo in Mich?

I just spent a week out in Phoenix and everywhere I went, I ran into other folks from Florida (and mainly from my area, Tampa). Took me a few days, but I figured out why we all went to Phoenix for vacation. We're used to hot, no big deal, so being hot there doesn't bother us. But while we're out there, we also don't have humidity or mosquitoes - so all us Floridians were in seventh heaven visiting Phoenix! (when my plane landed in Tampa today it was so humid I couldn't breathe - ack!)

When it is 110 outside, all that dry heat nonsense goes out the window. Phoenix is HOT! No getting around it folks.

Not for me. Yes it is hot, I am not denying that, but I am more comfortable in a dry 110 than in 85-90 with high humidity. Less pain in my joints, for one. Just as some people can tolerate cold better than others, some can't tolerate humidity at all.

My grandmother was the opposite. To each his own.

This is not the bad time of year. It's beautiful in the morning until at least 9am - I sit outside and read the paper etc. Then after 7 pm when the sun goes down it is nice again. Shoot, we had no power for the whole day a couple days back and it was not THAT bad. The bad stuff comes about the 4th of July - HUMIDITY! - low by eastern standards but enough to make it ugly in spite of the lower temps it brings. 8 weeks and its over, 12 weeks and the weather will be glorious, day in day out, for 7 months straight. Eat your heart out! You'll be crying S.A.D. tears into your baked beans pining for an Arizona winter come February.
