I went to the auto parts store and bought a cloth steering wheel cover. It works great!

So far, I like the heat. I heard it will get worse, but my only complaint is getting in the car after it being in the sun. Other than that, the heat here is just amazing.

Yesterday though was dry as all hell. I took a walk outside when it was around 2 or 3... with the dry wind blowing ever so slightly, and the sun shining intensely... I felt my nostrils somewhat sting as I breathed in at times.

Was the humidity really THAT low yesterday? Not complaining, just curious.

I hate driving in the heat, I refuse to use my A/C unless I have too, it drains too much power out of my little Nissan Sentra.

I don't mind a hot car unless I forget to put up my sun shade, then my steering wheel is almost impossible to use, and my seatbelts burn.

The heat is great! But only if it doesn't stick around too long over 110°! I am a sun worshiper and love, love the summer in Phoenix but even I have a threshold. Luckily it hasn't been reached in a long long time...since 1990 when I came to visit when I was 9, LOL!

You are perfectly fine, OP. Not nuts! My joints feel better in the heat, dry or not, than when it's cold and humid. Some of my best times I have in Phoenix are when I am dining at a restaurant with a window view of a huge Cumulonimbus cloud in the distance and watching lightning from that cloud, as I comfortably sip a cold hefeweizen (on tap of course)! Cheers!

The heat in Texas was gawdawful hot and you use steering wheel covers there and screens for your front window when you are not in the car to keep the sun off the seats, so you don't burn your fanny or legs. What's the difference in there and Phoenix--except in Phoenix there is so little humidity and you seem to sweat less.
What shocked me is that--with all that heat at 108 degrees--I wasn't sweating at all after running in and out of houses all day long, and my clothes didn't stink like they would when I peeled them off in Houston after a day of doing the same activity. Big difference...and quite the shock to find my clothes had no sweat odor there as in Houston they definitely would after a day outside. Wow! That's cool!
I normally drink 8-12 glasses of water daily anyway, and put sunscreen on first with moisturizer over the sunscreen for my face over it to protect my face and hands...and I'm in the Midwest doing this in my neverending attempt not to look like a wrinkled old prune of a lady. I will confess my girlfriend who came with me found her lips getting really dry and was reaching for the Chapstick all day, but it didn't seem to affect my lips.
I feel I'm pretty set for life out there overall....unless there is something I don't know about with all that heat, which is why I asked. And I keep thinking that I should hate the summer heat there since that's all I've heard about Phoenix over and over and over...but I didn't. Maybe the heat just gets old with Phoenix residents year after year with no let up?
Hope I feel the same way after a few years there and don't tire of it, also.
Did see a few houses with sunscreens on them, which I did put on my Houston house. So worth the little money they cost to do the whole house, truly.

***Could someone clue me into the months for the monsoons?????

This is a good link about monsoons in Arizona

I've flown in and out of PHX during monsoon season. VERY bumpy ride but no one seemed concerned. They seemed used to it. I didn't like it but I managed and I'm not a fraidy cat flyer. Just never experienced anything like it before.
