Ok, so every year we have a "predict the first real monsoon storm" thread.
Let's hear your thoughts for this year. My bet is on July 8th.

I mean real storm, with actual rain. lol

I second the 6th. A general convective outlook has been pushing into New Mexico for the last couple days and closer to Eastern Arizona where it is today, so assuming things stay the same it should be over Phoenix soon.

at 3:58pm, Thursday, July 8, there will be a whole bunch of lightning and thunder, some wind and dust, and a few sprinkles over the NE section of Apache Junction.....

the rest of the 3.9 million Valley residents will bemoan the fact that it all disappeared by 4:41pm.....

Hey, for us newbies how long is monsoon season and just what can we expect?
It's been over 25 years since I lived in Tucson, now in Surprise so I'm sure the weather has changed a bit.

I miss the storms we used to get when I was a kid, the skys would turn brown, it would be 100 out and raining, and everything smelled like dirt.

Oh mannnnnn, you just brought back a childhood memory for me! My folks used to take us camping in Arizona in the summer, and that's exactly how it was!
