songstress is on a distinguished road
I am going through the same thing right now only we're relocating to Phoenix from Michigan. I love my house here! It's an awesome 1908 Queen Anne Victorian, stained glass, pockets doors, original woodwork, only theres no work for my husband here.
We've tried to hang in, but it just keeps getting worse. My husbands income has dropped over half now and it's time to move on.
It's an awesome house, but the market is bust! Selling is not an option right now. It's scary, but it looks like we are going to have to rent it out and rent there. I have no idea where to begin!
We'll make great renters when we arrive since we are in the same boat in hoping people will take care of our home for us.
We do not intend to move back here since one move is enough for our children so we hope for the best, still this house was bought to raise our children in and even though we will eventually have to sell it I want to see it taken care of. Bummer!!!

By the way my Husband is having a midlife crisis too! LOL
I'd hang on to the house for a bit. who knows what life will throw at you.
I never thought we'd have to move again.
You might want to come back??? You'll still have that option then.
I am thinking a management company to collect rents and such since we'll be so far. Can you imagine the furnace going in MI and having to fly back to arrange it all? No thanks!

Well, I can relate. I guess my major concern would be the pool. Otherwise, all is well. There's just that pesky concern of chlorine and those durn helicopters flying overhead to cite you.

Heck, I dunno. It all seems so complicated. But the truth is the only thing I have to worry about is the pool and weeds. Don't want to get my neighbors angry.

Just curious, but would you have to fly back to arrange the furnace? Oh, do you have to make sure the pipes don't freeze?

Maybe. Once you hit 40, one forgets things. They say housing prices will decline and rebound in 2009.
