We live in the Northeast. Every time there is thunder and lightning we are praying not to lose power. It is so ridiculous. There has been even a couple of times in Southern Ct. (Greenwich) where a lot of my friends lost power FOR A WEEK! They had to stay in hotels and of course, it is not only inconvenient but expensive. Then you come home to a fridge/freezer full of bad food etc. Now that we have a baby - it is a nightmare. We would just go to a bar or out to eat if it happened early - and go to bed if it happened late - but you can't entertain a baby in the dark and without a nightlight she looses it. You can give her cold milk or heat it up, can't feed her because can't cook. It goes on and on. You basically have to abandon your home until the power comes back. Try doing that when you have to go to work. It is really taxing.
Within the past month we have had many (I can't even count) storms and there we are in our den praying the power doesn't go it. Between that and the horrible winters, snow storms, (power outages again) and ugly gray wet days, I can wait to move!
