Man, no one told me about these fricken dust storms before I relocated...

I am scared...with my luck I will get pulled over on the freeway by a cop with his top lights flashing minutes before the dust storm hits then took the blame for the 20+ car pile up along with the cop car!!

As someone who is new to Arizona, I was shocked to see rain clouds after the hotest week of the summer. Can anyone tell me if they have experienced any flooding in the Goodyear/Buckeye area? Huh, what I really want to know is... will my new home float over to Mexico? lol :-)

i didn't read all the posts for this thread so maybe this was already said, but here's an important piece of advice: never drive in the dust storm phase of the monsoon storm if you can at all avoid it!! it's impossible to see AT ALL. when you see the dust coming, GET OFF THE ROAD! after the dust comes the rain and you can end with a mud bath on your windshield as well. very scary stuff (personal experience).

oh and one more thing, have new batteries in your flashlights, or have lots of candles because the electricity always goes off during monsoon season. sometimes it comes back on quickly and sometimes its off for a time. i think the longest i've experienced was a couple of hours. (don't open your fridge and go hang out at the mall

ITS COMING!! lol
i believe the criteria for announcing that monsooon season has arrived is 3 consecutive days with a certain level of higher humidity.

it really can be quite spectacular but some years not so much. sometimes we just get a big build up of a lot of wind and dust and dark clouds and lightning and then nothing.....maybe a few drops of rain!!! but when its good, its really good!!!

its coming......

Keep in mind that it all depends what part of the valley your in. Southeast parts of the valley tend to see more dust storms. We don't see as much rain as we use to. I remember when every dust storm was followed by rain. Not so much anymore.
Never the same and always exciting!
