We are looking to relocate to AZ but my biggest concern is the quality of the schools. Where can you recommend?
We are a family of 5, need a nice family friendly neighborhood. Need larger yards than the newer tract homes allow (we have kids and dogs, they need room to play). Considering the far west side, but convince me otherwise.

We lived in Southern California for 25 years, currently live in the Albuquerque area. Were stationed in Arizona with the military (been there).. looking to move closer to home without going all the way to California!
Suggestions are appreciated.

If you've read any of the other threads then you know the first question to you is where are you going to be working? A long commute can reduce you to tears in time. You can find the better schools really in any quadrant except maybe downtown. As for larger lots, look for cul-de-sacs and lots on curves. They can be huge even in subdivisions with otherwise tiny lots.

The best schools - based on the state ratings - in the southwest valley are in Verrado (Buckeye), Estrella (Goodyear), around Litchfield Park and in Garden Lakes (Avondale).

If you are looking for good schools, do not look in Arizona (except maybe some private schools). Public education in AZ is the lowest common denominator.
