Ever since I've been to Arizona (lived in Phoenix the first 4 years), there's just seems to be more blonde haired people (fake and natural) here than people with brown or dark hair.

Why is that, I wonder?

This is probably a stupid thread, but I was always curious about this subject. And never knew this answer.

Why more blonds?

Clairol!!!!

If you truly want to know the extent of which any give population is naturally blond...

Look at the men's hair color.

While I recognize that a few men color their hair, far fewer do so. Because of this it is a much more accurate indication.

Funny thread.
Ever look at the newscasters on TV? It's pretty much a job requirement. But, it goes along with the lipo, pouty lips, tummy tucks, , butt lifts (is there such a thing? lol)and all the rest.
And, it's good for the economy.

There are not more blonds, or blondes, depending if you want to spit hairs on meaning, male or female; I would say women with blond, or blonde hair simply stand out more; obviously there are far more brunettes in Phoenix.

Your observation is impossible with the size of the Hispanic population we have here. I've noticed just the opposite.

Blonde hair means that a descendent came from Europe. Only 8% of the world has blonde hair. Being a descendent of Europe is no guarentee that you will have blonde hair. City Data.Com lists Phoenix as having 46% of the people claiming to be white. Many of those people do not have blonde hair. My parents and 3 sisters and a brother live in the Phoenix area and only one of my sisters has blonde hair. Chances are she is self medicating because as it turns out most people end up loosing the blonde and going brown as they age.

In the case of Phoenix if 46% of the people claim to be white and it is only white people that can naturally have blonde hair and only a small percentage of those white people are born with blonde hair and of those that are born with blonde hair less than 10% will retain the blonde hair, I kind of see it as hardly possible that everyone the OP is meeting is blonde. Then again many, like my sister are prone to self medication.

It could be that you are thinking that all the snow birds are blonde. Chances are many of them have no pigment in the hair and now have clear strands of hair, that we call white or grey, or in some cases shades of blue. LOL Still with 54% of the people living in the area not of European descent it is somewhat hard to find the kind of numbers that would suggest the majority having blonde hair.

Either a lot of dying of hair to a blond color, the sun blonding it up a little, or it also could be the abundance of midwestern transplants are here.
