Yeeeehhaaa! I can't wait to pay $200 a month or so for utilities when we move to AZ. In the winter (in the Northeast) my 3,400 sq ft home costs $600-$900 a MONTH! Can you believe it? Believe it. The heat is costly! Last month, with no AC or heat we paid $170 and were clicking our heals.

In the winter (in the Northeast) my 3,400 sq ft > home costs $600-$900 a MONTH! ... no AC or heat we paid $170 I've read horror stories about the rate shifts from IL to MA. One nice thing about PHX is that the weather is pretty much perfect for six months, hot for two, miserable for four. We've had electric bills under $50 without going out of town. However, our house was built with all the insulation that the builder would pack into the thing. Your windows matter a lot too. Any house built 15 years or more ago might need some serious upgrades. Such upgrades will pay for themselves. It's only a matter of time before PHX electricity rates equalize with those back East. |

I just got my SRP bill today and it was $258 for the past month, a little higher than I previously quoted which was around $200/month! It hurts when you're home a lot and keep the thermostat low in this humidity.

my electric bill was $549.00 with a two story, 2950 square feet/pool. I keep thermostat on 76. I about died when I got that bill the other day. We have 4 people showering, watching tv, washing clothes.

How many months of the year will the bill be so high? Is it 3 mos, or more like 6 mos?

Our bill for a 2,069 sq.ft. single story, was $399 last month. We keep our home around 82 and watch an hour or two t.v. in the dark daily. We do run fans and use our computers for work daily.

I'd say either the electric company in your city is ripping you off big time or your house is exceptionally badly insulated... I don't like fans and don't run them, either. |

I agree, that is a lot to pay Mike. I just got our bill and it was $207. We have a 1500sf home, single story, keep the thermostat at 76-77 while home, have the tv on a lot, fans blowing and lights on.

Yeah that's been my experience. My best electric bills in the Summer was the last house I owned in Gilbert close to 300 a little over. I've had those 500+ bills for years. I even called and complained when I first moved there. I thought my meter was broke ![]() |
