Wait wait wait...did you actually say you like the look of a dashmat?

I was actually going to reply with "Yes, they might save your dash, but they look like crap."

I've seen older cars with cracked dashboards, like late 80's Nissan Sentras, and my mother had a 1996 Kia Sephia who's dash actually came unglued, but aside from those I don't know of anyone with problems.

I don't know, I think they look tacky.

I agree, I recently got my windows tinted with the kind that reflects heat. It doesn't look any different, but you'll feel the difference when they do the heat lamp test when yuo are deciding on what level to buy.

It's more expensive, but you don't have to go with the top of the line. The middle choice should be fine and will reflect more heat than the regular kind.

IN my bf's car, his passenger airbag "lip" was kinda melting up from the sun. Since it was still under warranty, and his "baby", he had the whole dash replaced. It was a crazy thing to have done.

My grandmother had a 72 Dart that the dash completely cracked several times from the sun.

I agree with HX_Guy, that I don't like the look of dashmats. I haven't had one in my last two cars. I did have it in one a long time ago and it kept slipping when the velco stopped working. I just never fixed it.

There are some very nice attractive Dashmats out there that add to the looks of the dash. Plus they do protect your investment, again from fading and cracking from shrinkage.

I am an Az native and I have limo tint on all my windows. When i have gotten pulled over in the passed the Cops have never said anything about my windows. Now I might just be lucky or maybe the cop was thinking about other things, but it is really not an issue. I don’t think.

Not sure where some people are getting some of this info but here are the current laws

Windsheild - Only down to certain mark
Front/Side Windows - 35%
Rear/Side Windows - 5%
Back Window - 5%

Instead of buying an expensive dashmat, spend $5 and get a sun reflector from walmart to put in your window when you park during the day.

I had my all my windows (except the windshield) in my Saturn tinted a few shades darker then legal. Never yet (knocking on wood) had a problem.
